Anti-corruption Fight in Nigeria-1
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Any observer following the so much noise that the Nigerian government is making about the anti-corruption fight would think that the government means business! The situation that Nigerians found themselves make them sometimes ask such questions as 'Do these people (politicians) think we are fools? This is because some of their actions, utterances and defences are usually loaded with lies and deceits, so transparent that a- day old baby could decipher!
You need not go too far before you hear from Nigerians from different states the names of the poiticians who are the enemies of the people and whose dirty past deeds have not been sighted by the governments irrespective of the evidences that have been put forward at different times. They enjoy so much immunity that they even organise violence and defend it in the public with impunity. After all the former president ( Chief olusegun Obasanjo) once called on the politicians of like minds to make politics a 'do or die affair' the statement he still defends anywhere he goes till today! Following in the same lane one of the ruling party (PDP) chieftain has also warned Nigerian at a press conference that "Nobody has a monopoly of rascality and mischief'
A lot of the past government office holders have been found to have embezzled the state resources that could have been put into judicious uses, some have been arrested, given a kangaroo trial and set free after a while whithout proper punishment to serve a warning to the others. It is now fashionable for them to steal state money and come to the public to defend themselves with the money stolen. One of them even demended that he be handled like a VIP during the commencement of his trial! (to be continued)
